on the rackety little boat to the middle of the jungle..
caleb's showing the face he drew on his foot..
the 2 hour sampan ride there was really really fun.. the wind was just blowing at our faces and everything just passes by on both left and right.. and you're like right in the middle of the water and you can actually touch the water if you stick your hand out beacuse the seat was very shallow.. and on the way there, pat and adrian taught me a song.. this is how it goes..
who is the king of the jungle
hooga-hooga
who is the king of the sea
bala-bala-bala
who is the king of the universe
the jungle and the sea?
let me tell you now,
J-E-S-U-S!
J-E-S-U-S!
he is the king of me!
he is the king of the universe
the jungle and the sea.
it's super cute song.. fun to sing too! LOL!

patricia and adrian.. adrian's wet cause he fell off the tree log when he was crossing the river..
haha! i was laughing like crazy.. i'm so evil right.. but i felt so sorry for him.. but he acted like nothing happened.. good sport.. haha.. he's so so so so cute okae! fell right into the water.. sigh.. lol.. not only did we have to cross rivers, we also had to cross gaps between two pieces of land.. like a dried up river and there were no bridges either so we had to balance on logs as well.. quite an experience, really. =)

that's a tribal mark i did on my arm using stones that had colour coming off them.. took two purplish ones back but i just gave them to caleb cause he wanted them..

at the side of the river.. we had ice-cream in that little shop/cafe.. yum-o! especially on a hot day.. it was more of humid la.. but the weather there was better than in singapore..
see the high socks all of us were wearing? that's a safety precaution against leeches..
pat got bitten by one still though.. there were loads of them.. *shivers*

that's at the canopy walk where we got to walk across super long bridges at the canopy layer.. learnt your geog? it's the section where the branches sorta intertwine.. and this walk is the longest canopy walk in the world.. it was really really fun.. the bridge was very narrow and you had to keep 5/10 meters away from the person in front of you or the bridge may break frm too much weight.

caleb and adrian at the beginning of one of the many bridges..

pat and i at one of the jungle trekking check points.. two of us with mum went cause there was a lot of climbing and it was rather steep so we didn't want the kids or gong gong or poh poh to go..

and that's a shot of patricia doing what adrian hates most and him making a face at the cam.. lol.. so sweet rite? muackx!
well the trip was really really enjoyable.. one of the most enjoyable i've had..
we stayed at this place where there were little huts.. not quite so resort-ish..
it was actually completely made of bamboo and wood.. cept for the toilet which was cemented..
the hut had only one room with 2 single beds so 2 ppl to a hut but pat and i had to stay with poh poh cause she was worried that something should happen to us.. but hey, the boys got to stay on their own! but anyway, the entering the hut was HORRIBLE because you had to open the door and whether it is day or night, rain or shine, there would be HUGE BUGS on the door.. the grasshoppers/ praying mantises could grow us to as large as your palm and so did the moths..
so there was once or twice i had to open the door and the bugs came and i just shrieked in terror.. *shivers*
well anyway, we had our breakfast lunch and dinner at the canteen which was on another little plot of land in the same little area but we had to cross this bridge to get there. although it wasn't as narrow as the canopy bridges, the bridge was at a very very great height above a wide distributary where there were a few huge rocks and rushing water.. oh yes and did i mention.. the water's brown.. like teh-see..
almost every night, pat and the two boys would ask me to tell them ghost stories.. but apparently the story i told them the night before we headed for the jungle was so impromptu and crappy that i think it ended up more of a funny story which cracked us all up..
well so one night, i told them another crappy story but creepy one.. with the lights all off except for a torch.. we were all cuddeled up in bed.. there was like.. suspense and all.. caleb tried to break the atmosphere by being cold (as in lame- cold) but i told him to keep quiet. so in the middle of the story, there was knock on the door. then it opened and all of us screamed.. haha.. it was poh poh asking pat and i to return to our hut.LOL!
then another night, i told a story and after that, mum came to call us for supper so we went.. but the kids were pretty freaked out.. so i walked behind them and just when we were at the birdge, i started screaming.. haha.. and THAT, freaked them out even more.. pat and caleb clung on to me as we crossed the bridge and i was laughing all the way there..
we had to climb us a flight of wooden stairs before reaching the top where the canteen was..
half way up, i grabbed patricia's ankle and she screamed and firghtened caleb and adrian and they all ran up the stairs and looked down only to see me laughing my head off once again.. well yeah i got a scolding from them after that but hey! haha.. it was fun! oops.. being evil again.. but owell.
the most eventful of all was however still not the stories and pranks but the night we had dinner and after that..
there was a storm..
it started pouring real bad so we couldn't go back to our huts.. we decided to sit around and talk.. not much of a choice really.. and so we sat down and talked.. the kids at one table.. (including me) and we started telling each other jokes and shared it with the adults and some teachers from singapore whom we met earlier that day. so the whole group of us we talking and talking..
then gong gong decided that he wanted to go back and asked us kids if we wanted to follow..
it was still storming but in his hands were clean garbage bags that the family who ran the canteen gave to act as raincoats..
initially, we wanted to just put it over and poke two holes to see through with and the 4 of us kids, plus gramps were about to leave when poh poh held us back and told us to poke another two holes to put or hands through(not arms) so that we could hole the bag properly without it moving around. so we stayed for a few mor mins to do that.
and at that moment, there was a really strage and loud sound..
like rumbling and shaking..
but the ground was stable.. and we were all wondering what it was when suddenly, there was a really huge crash. we realised that a super tall tree had fallen on the path leading to the stairs.. which was also the path that the 5 of us would have been taking if poh poh hadn't stopped us so tell us to poke another 2 holes.. it was totally freaky cause if we had just lef t like that, we prlly would have been dead or injured or maybe paralysed or something.. the tree was humongous.. the canteen family had to use some electric saw thing to saw it the next morning.. the 5 of us managed to squeeze through the small gap between the branches and the stairs without using the pathway.. so blessed not to have been hit by the tree.. and thank God that we didn't.
the next morning, we saw where the tree had broken off from.. the other half was stil standing tall, way above our heads.. can imagine how tall it is eh?
that's about it.. of course there were also other things that i haven't mentioned but i really gotta go mug now... good night ppl!
