shang HI- lights part 2
i think we went on this ferry at night with the chilling wind blowing in our faces and slight drizzle. practically none of us anglican highers stayed inside the ferry where it was warm and.. BORING. we all headed outside where the cold was.. i had to borrow jun liang's jacket which was hmm.. rather thin.. but thanks dude! then fortunately, si han looked for me and passed me an extra jacket which she brought along! si han rocks! but so anyway, the 2ceers were crammed at one corner on the deck, enjoying the cold weather we NEVER get in singapore.. enjoying the company of haveing each other around.. cracking jokes about wei xian cause he was so covered in flesh that he wanted desperately to feel cold. haha.. so he exposed his palms in the "i surrender" manner and ended up with cold hands.. haha.. wei xian the hot guy. woohoo!
we went to the tv tower... dunno the name.. as you know i really can't remember chinese names.. yeah but it's the tower with 3 balls. the scenery was really pretty from up there.. can see the shanghai lights.. shanghai's a really bright and vibrant city.. expensive too.. dad says it's kinda like las vegas. they have roads all over the place and layers of flyovers everwhere.. it's really quite messy sometimes.. probably make your head spin if you don't know the roads there.
i think it was the third day that we went to the school.. it's called ying cang qi wei qi xue xiao if i'm not wrong. took me awhile to get that in my head. it's a school that sorta speciallizes in wei qi which is a chinese board game like chess.. just like how our school speciallizes in sports. we have a sports class and they have wei qi class.. they're really all-rounded. school ends between 2-4 but a selected group will stay till even later.. like 8? i think that's how it works. but the thing is.. they learn chinese, english, chinese calligraphy, art, craft, pe, geography, math (much harder than ours), science, wei qi.. and i really dunno what else but they have 14 examinable subjects. which totally... i dunno whether to say rox or sux. the little kids there are really cute.. a few of them greeted me "da jie jie".. haha.. so cute rite!! oh wait.. i haven't told you about the school yet.. it's MUCH NICER than anglican high.. their floor is MARBLED on every single storey or their 8 storey high building and so are their pillars!! they even have a LIFT. not only that, they have a HUGE bball court with about 8 nets and a running track with 4 lanes. how cool is that?? they have HUGE staff rooms and even a teacher's lounge which smells like STARBUCKS. how cool is that la! after school, ther'd be this lady selling bing tang lu.. which is candy coated fruit that comes in a satay stick.. completely yummilicious!
when we were at the school, we got to learn shanghai history in this lecture room where the seats were elevated.. like in a real theatre.. in which most of us fell asleep.
we also had a geog lesson.. which kinda i dunno.. a little boring as well.. geog in english is enough but in chinese??
we learnt how to make parachutes.. mini ones.. the type that caleb makes at home. they actually showed us 2 rockets which they students made and they let it off.. the rockets shot up really really high and went off high up in the sky letting out two parachutes each which flew off to another building across the street and one landed on the roof of the school... the other 2 flew off to heaven. lol.. it was really an eye opener that.
we learnt how to make flowers with wire and stocking.. it was really pretty.
they also thought us how to bead stuff.. like coasters.. i'm making one for grandma and one for grandpa..
then this crappy chester went to joke with the teacher "how come no music lessons"
and the enxt day we had a music lessons.. haha.. talk about great joke eh?
we learnt this chinese song "mo li hua".. some type of flower la.
the song was stuck in my head at the airport.. then some of us started singing it again..
it was even worse in the plane back when this ci yi made me put on the headphones and sang the song into the other end.. hahaha.. it was hilarious la..
i made friends with 2 girls and a guy.. the girls were 13 and the guy was 14 but they study sec 2 work.. i dunno how they count their year but i think the guy was born in the later half of the year so he had to join the 13 year olds who were born in the earlier half.. weird eh? oh yes.. the guy looks like master p4in. haha.. we sat in for their english lesson see..
anyway, we had a bball match with them one day.. it was fun la.. but the kids there are really super tall you cannot tell that they are younger than you.. they're not justtall but big sized. oh and there was this bballer who looked like kc.. haha.. jing yi and hui ling saw and they stuntio and came to tell me.. haha..
on the second last day which was our last day in china, 2 c put up this little performance for the school.. as in the few important ppl of the school who were at the litle farewell.. the students were having exams. i'd really rather not talk about it.. haha.. but i guess the effort put in was good la.. we bonded through the late night practices which lasted till2 am in the morning.. it was really good la..
truthfully speaking, i really enjoyed the time in school as well.. though many of the rest probably found it boring.. lol.. will post part 3 later.
